GAIA

by DELPHINE TÊTENOIRE-AKKO

Description of work

Mother Earth as Goddess. She carries different types of archetypes that help us grow our roots. For example, the archetype of the hummingbird: two hummingbirds nursing babies on Gaia’s heart. Hummingbirds represent the nurturing love we give to ourselves. In fact, hummingbirds are considered love givers in the spiritual world, having the largest hearts in the animal kingdom relative to their small bodies. The lotus flower is a symbol of strength, resilience, and rebirth. The Banian tree symbolizes the tree generation: he represents the memories we received from our ancestors. The owl is the symbol of death and rebirth – for the cycle of life and our mother earth.

Emigrated from France in 2006 to New Caledonia, a small paradise island in the South Pacific, east of Australia. As an “artist nomad” she mainly travels between Melanesia, India, Israel, and Europe. She is a self-educated painter. In her canvases she likes to combine Melanesian traditional islanders’ colours, aboriginal art, pop art, street art with French sophistication. Her paintings are full of details and bring different layers of reading. Delphine paints with Posca and acrylic. Through her art she expresses her love for Gaia and her connection to this beautiful universe.
